Treks in (and Around) the City: Storm King Art Center

Tal Streeter's "Endless Column," 1968
Not since I visited The Grand Canyon in the early '90s have I felt such a powerful connection to a landscape as I did while roaming the grounds of Storm King Art Center
Alexander Liberman's "Adonai," 1970-71
(Refabricated 2000)

The al fresco museum "that celebrates the relationship between art and nature" is about an hour's drive north of the city, but you might want to build in more time for getting lost in the misty mountains and verdant valleys that evoke Ireland and The Lake District of England.

Mark Di Suvero's "Old Grey Beam," 2007/2010
And yes, I plan to return for peak foliage. Special thanks to Beth and Mary for escorting me down this unforgettable rabbit hole.

Yes, we must return on a day when the grass is dry so that we can roll roll roll down those long and luscious hills. Meanwhile, thanks for the beautiful pix.

I second Beth's thought about dry grass and hill rolling. I enjoyed reliving our excursion via your gorgeous photos!
